Graphite Petroleum Coke could promote the nucleation of the graphite in liquid iron,increase the amount of spheroidal graphite, and improve the structure and the grade of grey and ductile iron.
Based on the microstructure observation, the features of Graphite Petroleum Coke are as following:
First,It can greatly increase the proportion of ferrite content of the nodular cast iron without pearlite stabilizer, Second, it can increase the percentage of V and VI shaped graphite when it is used;Third, comparing with the improvement of the shape of spheroidal graphite, the great increase of spheroidal graphite amount can decrease the usage of expensive nucleating agent for later micro-adjustment and save the cost remarkably.

1.What is graphite petroleum coke?
High purity graphitized petroleum coke is made from high quality peroleum coke under a temperature of 2,500-3,500C. As a high purity carbon material, it has characteristics of high fixed carbon content, low sulfur, low ash, low porosity etc. It can be used as carbon to produce high quality steel, cast iron and alloy.
2.How do you make graphite from petroleum coke?
Graphite is produced from calcined coke by grinding and sitting the coke to obtain a powder which is mixed with a suitable binder, formed into shapes, and heat treated. A binder for moderator graphite should have a carbon-to-hydrogen ratio (C/H) of about 1.5 to about 1.8.
3.What is the difference between graphite petroleum coke and calcined petroleum coke?
(1) Graphite Petroleum Coke is produced in graphitization furnace at about 3000 ℃, Calcined petroleum coke is produced in a forge furnace at a temperature of more than 1500 ℃.
(2) The fixed carbon content of graphitized carburizer is about 98%, and the highest is 99%.
