High purity graphitized petroleum coke is made from high quality peroleum coke under a temperature of 2,500-3,500C. As a high purity carbon material, it has characteristics of high fixed carbon content, low sulfur, low ash, low porosity etc. It can be used as carbon to produce high quality steel, cast iron and alloy. It can also be used in plastic and rubber as an additive.

It can be used as carbon raiser (Recarburizer) to produce high quality steel, cast iron and alloy.

How is graphite petroleum coke manufactured?

 

Graphite is produced from calcined coke by grinding and sitting the coke to obtain a powder which is mixed with a suitable binder, formed into shapes, and heat treated. A binder for moderator graphite should have a carbon-to-hydrogen ratio (C/H) of about 1.5 to about 1.8.

 

What is the difference between graphite petroleum coke and calcined petroleum coke?
 
(1) The sulfur content of graphitized petroleum coke is generally between 0.03-0.06%, generally more than 0.05%. The absorption rate is generally between 90% and 95%.
(2) The sulfur content of calcined petroleum coke carburizer is generally about 0.5%. The absorption rate is generally between 80% - 90%.
